Michelle.Obama.PhiladelphiaWith a week of reflection under our belts, we, the women of CompuData, are happy to share our collective vibe from what was one entertaining, empowering, deliciously inspirational and even presidential Tuesday.

Last Tuesday, the woman of CompuData traded our regular tasks for a day out of the office with Shonda Rhimes, Shawn Achor, Dr. Brene Brown, Carla Harris, Former First Lady Michelle Obama and 12,000 women – and a dozen or so brave men.

We headed to the Pennsylvania Conference for Women to experience a day of motivation, inspiration, empowerment, networking, transformative perspectives, workplace strategies, wealth management wisdom, entrepreneurial stories, global viewpoints, delightfully amazing cheesecake-filled truffles and a surprise video message from one very much in love husband celebrating his 25th wedding anniversary.

There were 12 CompuData sisters at the event, joined by thousands arriving on buses traveling from parts all over Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and parts further. One particular woman from DC caused a lot of commotion! The energy of the event was E-L-E-C-T-R-I-C. Everywhere you looked, it was a sea of women – smiling, talking, communicating, sharing professional journeys, catching up on their kids’ accomplishments, commiserating on the state of our world today and expressing unyielding support for better days ahead.

All ages.

All races.

All industries.

All walks of life.

Diversity was everywhere – the event was a collective sisterhood of 12,000 women sharing one strong, vibrant voice.

When Michelle Obama speaks, you listen!

The former First Lady brought her authentic, humorous, deeply genuine and true self in every way to the event, sharing stories of her years in the White House, the hectic pace of her life in the world’s spotlight, the dedication and drive that it took to raise two beautiful daughters under a global microscope, and her personal journey of being true to her own voice “at the table” as the wife, best friend and greatest supporter of the 44th President of the United States.

Joining the former First Lady on the event’s mainstage were speakers New York Times best-selling author of The Happiness Advantage and Before Happiness Shawn Achor, as well as Carla Harris, vice chairman, wealth management, managing director and senior client advisor at Morgan Stanley and Dr. Brene Brown, author of the New York Times best-sellers, The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, and Rising Strong, as well as TED Talk legend, with one of the top five most viewed TED talks in the world attracting more than 25 million views.

Key themes for the day – which featured more than 100 speakers, 27 breakout sessions and sponsors including Beneficial Bank, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Cisco, Johnson & Johnson, PECO, Prudential, Drexel University LeBow College of Business, QVC, GlaxoSmithKline and more – featured everything from personal branding, career confidence strategies and mastering civility in the workplace to fostering innovation, strategies to step up and get noticed and outlooks on creating a meaningful work-life balance.

As if that weren’t enough to make a good day stupendous, all 12,000 attendees were included in a tender anniversary moment with the former first couple when Michelle Obama received a surprise 25th wedding anniversary message from her famous husband during the event. In a video, Obama praised his wife’s strength, grace, and her countless amazing qualities.

One thing is for sure, we, the women of CompuData, are looking forward to next year’s Pennsylvania Women’s Conference – maybe Barack Obama will even send another greeting!

I dropped in on Michelle’s talk at the Pennsylvania Conference for Women to deliver a message on our 25th wedding anniversary. Asking you to go out with me is the best decision I ever made. I love you, Michelle.
