Accounting utilizing calculators and multiple spreadsheets is outdated. Too many risks can be involved including missed deadlines, calculation mistakes or plain human error. Automated accounting is the future, but sometimes it is difficult to know where to begin. Although automation may seem intimidating, it does not have to be. The complex nature of automated accounting software is a myth. There are many benefits to an organization, countless integration options and many ways to speed up accounting processes. We interviewed Lisa deLeon, The Senior Director of Finance here at CompuData, to break down the ease of automated accounting with Sage Intacct

Key Features with Sage Intacct Automated Accounting Software

When talking to Lisa about some of her favorite and most used features of Sage Intacct she talked about how great the visibility was within the program. Sage Intacct has a suite of modules that include Accounts Payable (AP), Cash Management, Accounts Receivable (AR), and the General Ledger (GL) and others. Sage Intacct has a seamless connection between the subledgers and the GL which allow users to have visibility easily and quickly to information at the GL level and drill through to get to the details to investigate anything that comes into question. Creating customizable views also enables distinct types of visibility to each individual user. A user can go from summary GL information or into the details on areas such as item master, vendor master and customer master in just a few clicks.

“Sage Intacct automated accounting software has an extremely intuitive user interface. It is very responsive and easy to use and adapt to. One of my favorite things about it, is that there are no specific terms or technical knowledge needed when using it.” – Lisa deLeon, Director of Finance at CompuData

Sage Intacct allows the user can run a report easily by clicking a few buttons instead of having to remember specific technical report codes. They are also able to create a customized dashboards or reports in minutes without having to go through a developer or IT resource. This allows users who have been provided access the ability to create dashboards on the fly to support their day-to-day work or for organizational use, making it extremely straightforward and simple to communicate throughout all levels of the company.

Build a Best-in-Class Automated Accounting Platform with Integration Options

Integration options are a big part of Lisa’s excitement towards Sage Intacct’s automated accounting platform. As a finance professional, she was doing a lot with taxes. When she discovered that Sage Intacct has an integration option with Avalara sales tax software, she knew this would save her countless hours.  In the past, Lisa was spending over 16 hours a month completing sales tax filling but after discovering Sage Intacct’s integration with Avalara, called AvaTax and Avalara Returns, that decreased to only one hour per month.

“Avalara is like extra staff to me! I feel as though we hired sales tax staff, but we really just benefited from that integration.” – Lisa deLeon, Director of Finance at CompuData

Sage Intacct’s integration with the Avalara offerings makes it easy for the user to complete tax collection, filings, and remittance all while having visibility and connectivity to other accounting processes in the Sage Intacct software platform. By having all this information in one place, automated accounting saves time and eliminates long, drawn out processes.

A Brief Comparison of Automated Accounting Platforms

Lisa has been a finance professional for over 30 years and has used and implemented many financial automation solutions. When comparing other automated accounting systems, Sage Intacct is by far easier to use while shortening accounting and finance process cycle time.

“Many other accounting software companies will say that they are one, seamless platform but they are often modules that have been stitched together on the back end. That makes integrations complicated and creates extra time in the processes with having to support additional data loads between seamless modules. That also makes drill through and transparency challenging, and it can make reporting and business intelligence complicated; lack transparency. Sage Intacct’s dimensionality and truly seamless subledger integrations create an easy to use and holistic environment for recording, reporting and genuinely being able to drive the business” Lisa deLeon, Director of Finance at CompuData

Sage Intacct is different because it is one seamless platform with each of the applications connected within the suite. It also offers expanded dimensionality so you can expand the details that you choose to post with your transactions which would, in turn, provide you with more robust reporting.
